Road Trip Selfie: Step by Step

Hello friends!

Today I'd like to show you the steps to how I put my Road Trip Selfie layout together using the August Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook

I started off with a base of Kraft cardstock and then layered the diagonal rainbow stripe, the wood grain, the clouds and the pink scalloped papers. I made sure to use a piece of the woodgrain paper that had a diagonal that was the opposite of the diagonal on the rainbow stripe.

On top of that I placed a mat of the red heart paper and tucked one of the clear frames just under the right side. I adhered the clear frame with adhesives under where the yellow frame is so that you can't see it.

Next I stuck my photo down and attached another fun clear overlay on top of it to get the cute dots down the right side of the photo. I used small glue dots underneath some of the colored dots on the clear overlay so that it would stay stuck over the photo but you wouldn't see the glue.

Here's a close up of that...can you see where I glued it on?

Next I layered the word 'selfie' using letter stickers from the kit on top of the peach hashtag diecut and attached it so it overlaped the photo and the yellow frame. I layered the I {heart} summer sticker next and then cut a three blue hearts from the rainbow heart border sticker and layered it over the other items.

The 'ROAD TRIP' diecut and the awesome bus diecut went on next. I don't know how well you can read it in the photo but the bus says 'road trip' on the door. I attached the bus so that it covered up the word summer on the I {heart} summer sticker because I wanted to add another layer there...you'll see that in a minute.

Below the bus I fussy cut the banner from a piece of patterned paper and tucked it under the wheels of the bus. I also fussy cut out the other road trip sign from a piece of patterned paper and tucked that under as well.

As an after thought I realized that I needed a little something more at the top of my cluster of embellishments and so I cut the windmill sticker out and attached it so it was sticking out from the road trip sign. I put some baby powder on the points of windmill so that they would not stick to the page and bent them up to give it a little dimension rather than being a flat sticker.

And remember how I covered up the word 'summer' before? Well I replaced it with another word summer that I fussy cut from the chalkboard paper.

To anchor the page and create some balance I added another little cluster of embellishments to the bottom left corner of my photo. I used the camera diecut, layered on top of a circle I punched out of the woodgrain paper. I then layered some more of the rainbow heart border sticker with the word #summertime that I fussy cut out of the chalkboard paper, and finally a little word sticker.

So there you have it...my completed layout. I added a little journaling below the pink scalloped paper and it is complete!

I hope you enjoyed watching how I put this layout together. I'd love to see what you create with your Creative Kit this month! Make sure to share your projects on our FB page.

Pretty Little Studio and Twinery Blog Hop Day 1!!

Hello Friends!!!

Welcome to Day 1 of the Blog Hop between Pretty Little Studio and the Twinery!

You should have found your way here from Amy Crockett's blog Scrappin Mommy, but if you just happened to come along this post today and you'd like to start hopping from the beginning then just head on over to The Twinery's blog where they are kicking things off!

I'm already a huge fan of The Twinery and use their twine all the time, so when I found out we were going to do a hop with them I was thrilled.

I am usually pretty simple with how I use my twine, tying bows etc. but for this hop I wanted to be a little more creative (on one card at least)

Here are the cards I made to share with you today.

This card was fun to make but it sure took a long time for me to do all that stitching!

I just used one of the awesome title diecuts from the Marigold collection. I used a paper piercer to poke all the holes in the diecut first and then used the colors of twine that matched the colors in the die to stitch through the middle of each letter.

The colors of twine in the word are: Marigold, Buttercream, Seaweed, Caribbean, and Slate.

I kept my second card a little more simple and let the beautiful Marigold Collection from Pretty Little Studio shine. I just love the colors! They are so warm and bright.

I layered a Silhouette cut with a gold foil sticker to create the sentiment and then tied a few layers of Buttercream twine around the card and finished it with a big bow to create some texture.

Summer Scrappin with My Creative Scrapbook

Hi Friends!

I'm back today to share my remaining layouts made with my August Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

This month's fun kit features the bright and cheerful Lemonade Stand Collection from Bo Bunny as well as some other embellishments from American Crafts.

I loved all the fun strawberries in the kit and I knew right away that they would be perfect to use on this layout of my daughter eating her freshly picked wild strawberries.

There are so many fun tags and title cards in this kit, it makes it easy to add titles and journaling to your projects.

More fun berries...and I just LOVED the little rainbow polkadot alphabet!

My family doesn't really get the opportunity to do much traveling in the summer so we have to make the most of what we have close to where we live. My hunny has a second job at a hotel in town that has an outdoor swimming pool. We get to use it any time we want for free and it is a great way to beat the heat during this super hot summer we are having! A staycation is a great thing!

There was even a STAYCATION sticker!!! how perfect was that?!? And I just loved the one that says 'the best things in life are free'...couldn't be better! And those shades...love 'em!

It was my baby girls first time in a swimming pool. The water was a bit cool and I thought she would cry but she loved it...she's not a fan of this heat either!

I fussy cut the sun and clouds out of one of the papers in the kit.

The big orange tag is just tucked under all the other embellishments. It has some hidden journaling on it.

Finally here's a little peek of my last layout. I'm going to have a detailed step by step on how I put this layout together a little later on in the month, so make sure you watch for that.

For all the details about subscriptions for this kit as well as the 3 other monthly kits from My Creative Scrapbook check out the webpage here.

Have a great day!

Today I would like to share one of the layouts that I created with the August Creative kit

As you can see I used a splatter technique on the white paper on this layout, but I did it WITHOUT using mists or sprays.

Here's how I did it:

1. I used my non stick craft mat and rubbed my desired color of ink pad directly onto it.
2. I sprayed a mist of water onto the ink to get it wet.

3. I then loaded up a paintbrush with the inky water and flicked it onto my paper.

4. I repeated these same steps with a few more colours to get the look you see above.

Easy right?!?
This is a great tip for saving some money and not having to purchase a bunch of sprays if you already have ink pads, which I think most papercrafters already do!

Now here are a few close ups of my layout...

I layered items cut from the patterned papers included in the kit, die cuts and letter stickers to create my title block.
The rainbow strip across the top of my layout is a fun border sticker!

There are so many fun die cuts and sentiment stickers in this kit! It makes it so easy to pull a layout together.
I used some tags to create a place for my journaling.

Make sure you come on back to my blog the rest of the week to see what else I've done with my August Creative Kit!!!
